Tara Mayson is the Founder, President and Executive Director of The Hope Dealer Project, a West Virginia nonprofit providing addiction recovery navigation, family support, advocacy, and direct assistance to individuals and families impacted by substance use disorder.

Since founding The Hope Dealer Project in 2015, Tara has worked directly with individuals and families navigating substance use disorder, treatment, recovery, reentry, and crisis. Her work has grown from grassroots outreach into a broader network of community partnerships, recovery advocacy, family support, and direct assistance throughout West Virginia.

Tara is also the founder of West Virginia Goes Purple, a statewide addiction recovery awareness and advocacy initiative uniting communities across West Virginia during National Recovery Month through education, remembrance, stigma reduction, and celebration of recovery.

Tara’s leadership is grounded in direct community engagement. She works alongside individuals, families, treatment and recovery organizations, businesses, government partners, and community leaders to connect West Virginians with recovery resources and strengthen support for individuals and families impacted by addiction.

In addition to her nonprofit leadership, Tara brings more than 15 years of federal government experience in operations, policy, regulatory affairs, and organizational processes, strengthening her ability to build partnerships and lead community-based initiatives.

At the heart of Tara’s work is a simple belief: recovery is possible, families deserve support, and no one should have to navigate addiction or recovery alone.
